ScrapSugar: Mobile Blog

Hey everyone.

I'm still TAKS testing at work today so I don't have a new card for you today, but I do have a cool little something to share with you. Hopefully this is working now.

As I was internet surfing last night I came across Widgetbox. Cool little site whereby you can create widgets for all types of things. One of the things that I found was a way to create a mobile site.

A mobile site is just a website that is designed to be more readable via a mobile device, i.e., cell phone (my prefered is an iPhone). And just my luck Widgetbox has a widget just for creating a mobile website. The best part about the Widgetbox mobile site is that I can link my Blog, Facebook Page, Twitter, Youtube accounts all on this one mobile webpage.

So you can click the Mobile Blog link from your mobile phone to be redirected right to my mobile site. How cool is that??

Let me know what you think and if you decided to create your own mobile site leave me a comment with the link.

Challenges, Mini Albums, & more.

Hey everyone,

It's panning out to be a very long week for me. My students are TAKS testing again this week and that means restless children who are stressed about testing.

Today I have a card that qualifies for 2 sketches, CPS 164  and 2Sketches4U. Love that.

CPS sketch #164

CPS 164 Sketch

2Sketches4U #54

I haven't done much crafting this week so I'm spotlighting a good crafty friend of mine, Kathryn Krieger from the ScrapBeach. I met Kathryn when I was designing mini albums with a kit club hosted by Marion Smith. I had the best time participating in that kit club and met some great girls.

Here is part one of a great mini album Kathryn is working on. I love watching these videos because she offers some great crafting tips and products. Enjoy.

Distress Ink Foam Storage Idea

Are you a grungy girl? Do you love Tim Holtz distress Inks? Have all those foam applicators stored in little baggies? Want a great storage solution? If you answered yes to any/all of those questions then take a quick look at this video by Patti Behan

Is that the cutest idea? And guess what? Stampin' Up! has a matchbox die (114890) so you can make the boxes out of your favorite patterned paper. I would also cut some acetate to put inside the box so that the box won't soak up the left over ink and get mushy inside.

I thought this was a great idea.

Blog Gazing: Scrap Room Pt. 2

One of my all time favorite things to do is watch videos of scrap rooms. And I can't believe I forgot to add this tour to my previous post

This is my all time favorite scrapper, Kristina Werner. She is the reason I am a crafter today so here is her scraproom tour.

Love the height of her work surfaces. I've been having the hardest time finding a desk chair for my craft table because it actually a counter height dining table that I found at big lots for $40. :-D

Here is a messy pic of my work space.

The Sweet Studio
As you can see it's pretty messy right now as I've been crafting all weekend as usual.

Ta ta for now.

Blog Design

Hey All,

If you visited the blog anytime over the weekend then you may have seen a few changes. And if you're reading this now you may have noticed that those said changes are gone. Well I can be a bit indecisive and I'm not quite satisfied with the options that I have in the typepad designs. Any suggestions on customizing the main column size without compromising the rest of the blog design. I like most of the 3 column templates however I'd like the center column to be slightly larger than the ones offered by type. I've tried custom CSS (on my DIY right??) and it just isn't working for me. I've also been to the typepad community and nothings working for me. Right now I have it set to fluid cells and I'm not liking that.

Know of any custom typepad blog designers?? + affordable?? Let me know.

PS. Thanks for stopping by. It's totally amazing that people are actually interested in hearing all of this. Thanks again. Love.

New Computer + Dailybooth

Hey everyone,

I'm back and in full effect. <--I just love that statement. he he. Seriously my computer arrived and I feel like someone just pressed resume. It was a struggle not having a computer for the last 4 days but I think I did ok. It was a complete eye opener as to how much I use my computer and how much it has become apart of my everyday life.

I am officially a MAC and it's been a pretty easy transition. I've been a PC all my life so there are some things that take a little getting used to.

1. The backspace button: It took me all of 2 seconds to figure out there wan't one. Not a biggie though.

2. The customization: They seriously allow you to choose the position of the scroll bar arrows. How awesome is that??

3. Icons, Icons, Where for art thou Icons: When I first powered on my new iMac that was the one thing I looked for. Um where are my programs? Thank goodness for the MAC video tutorials. They've been my "Must See TV" for the last few days.

4. Printing is a breeze: Seriously, all I had to do was plug my printer in, find a document to print (that took a little maneuvering to figure out where a document might be) and then press print. Can you believe the computer installed the printer all by itself with no discs at all. Awesome.

5. Ease of use: I love the fact that it does what I tell it to do when I tell it to do it. Who knew life could be this good?? Apparently, many of you and I'm just finding all this out. Story of my life!

Other than that I had my first skype conversation today and it was awesome. I was even able to accomplish screen shots to show my aunt pics of my little brother going to prom. Man, I've been missing out on alot with my "noncamerahaving-bluescreenofdeath threatening-respondwhenitwantsto-PC". I have arrived!!

And thanks to my new iSight camera I can now post pics to my DailyBooth account. For example:

Photo on 2010-04-23 at 12.06

Here's a quick card that I made today following Kristina Werner's 5 Items on My Desk Challenge.

image from
My 5 items were random PP by Making Memories from the BigKidsBoy Collection, and Whimsy Collection, Polka Dot Basics II stamp set from PapertreyInk, Misc Card base from Michaels, Ink from Stampin Up! in Real Red, Chocolate Chip, & Sage Shadow, + Stampin Write Markers in Soft Suede & Dusty Durango.

*I counted the ink as one item because I keep all my Stampin Up inks on my desk all the time, and I counted the markers as one item because they came in a pack.

Here's a quick view of my workdesk - Please excuse the mess. I've been getting crafty all day. he he,

Lots of Stuff, I know.

Oh yes, one more thing. I'm having issues with my Adobe Photoshop Elements. For some reason it wont work on my new imac. :-( Any suggestions? Whenever I try to open a photo it crashes. I got the software in a bundle when I got my new printer. Is there a special one that I need to have now because I'm on a Mac??

Adobe Photoshop CS5: Previews

Hi all.

Today I'm showcasing one of my favorite {and most imtimidating} programs, Adobe Photoshop CS5. I had the previous version of CS4 {just the trial though} and loved it. It took me quite some time to get comfortable with it. I spent many hours watching tutorials on Youtube<---I probably watch Youtube more than I watch television.

In a twist of fate, I actually got a copy of Photoshop Elements 6.0 when I purchased my new wide format photoprinter earlier this year. How lucky is that?? I thoroughly enjoy working with it as well, however I'm really looking forward to the new products Adobe is rolling out, i.e., Adobe Photoshop CS5, Lightroom, and Illustrator. I've got lots of practicing to do. Here are two of my favorite demo vids to get all of us familiar with CS5. Enjoy.

Awesome stuff right?? Let me know if you know of any additional tutorials that you love.

Mojo Monday: MOJO135 & Yes I'm a little late.

Hey All,

Yes I know is late but better late than never right?? I guess it took me a little longer to get my Mojo flowing this week because I'm just posting this today. He he.

In my defense can I mention that I'm a new teacher and I'm working really hard to do my best for my children.

So today I have my interpretation of the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday 135.

image from  Mojo135Sketch

I must say that I'm loving the colors on this card. I order this patterned paper from Stampin Up! a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've used it. I think that sort of seafoam green might be my new favorite color. Doesn't it just say relax with me.

That's all for today. My new computer should be here by friday and I'm so excited. Can you tell??

Quick Post to say Hello!!

Hey everyone,

I'm just popping in to say hello. I'm out of commission for the time being until my new computer is delivered so I decided to post an inspiration post. {I'm posting via email and it is the most convienent thing to ever happen to blogging. Thanks typepad for the option. Comes in handy in times like these. :-D} Update: Seems as though there are certain flaws when posting via email: Pictures not posting from Yahoo, etc.
So here I am fixing what was broken.

One of my favorite people/bloggers of all time, Kristina Werner (she is the reason I am a crafter today), issued a challenge with today's MACM: Create a one layer card!!

image from

So with this card I decided to use some of my goodies from my major PapertreyInk haul that was delivered today, (and might I add it came at the perfect time because I was having a not so good day).

I decided to get aquainted with my blender pens. I've seen Kristina use them quite a few times in the past year of MACM vids that I've watched and I recieved some in my Stampin Up! Demo kit and I've just broken them out. I need to get my practice in anyway because I will be getting Copic Certified this June. I love this technique especially with the blender pens because it makes your inks so much more versatile. It does take some practice and for my first time I think I did fairly well.

If you use this technique let me know some of the secrets to success with the blender pen.

That's all for now. If your not a tumblr user then you are certainly missing out. Check out
my tumblr account and create one of your own. I post most of my inspirational internet finds over there.

Fly High...and update.

Hey everyone,

Today I have a card based on a sketch on Amy Rysavy's blog Prairie Paper & Ink. I made this card with Stampin Up cardstock and a clear stamp set by Practicing Creativity Designs called "Look Up".

Don't you just love the little Hot Air balloons. I knew I had to have this set. Here is the sketch.

Fly High Supplies: Mostly Stampin Up except where indicated -Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant (105126) & Pink Passion(102762), Stampin Write Marker in Soft Suede (116329), Modern Label Punch (116630), Scallop Edge Punch (112091), Practicing Creativity Designs: Look Up! Clear Stamps, Misc: Patterned Paper.

Computer Update:

My new computer is on order and I can't wait. I decided to get a Apple iMac and I got a great deal on a refurbished one on the Apple website. As you know I'm an avid Youtube watcher and for the last couple of years I've been watching videos reviewing apple products and I totally fell in love with what I saw. I'd been saving up for a iMac since December last year and this little computer mishap pushed me forward to get exactly what I was and to find a great deal in the process. (I never buy anything full price....he he).

Now its just a waiting game. As soon as it gets here I will post a review.

Plus I should have 2 more hauls coming from Hero Arts and PapertreyInk coming soon. Scrap goodies galore. That makes me happy. :-D

That's all for now.

In sweet anticipation.

Photo Keepsake Box via Marion Smith

Hey everyone,
As you may have seen I'm in the market for a new computer, since my old computer when kaputz 3 days ago. See this post for details.
Since all of my projects I'd previously photographed have been sent to never never land (since I will never get them back) I'm featuring a friend of mine, Marion Smith and her photo box.
This was my first project that I completed that wasn't a card or a scrapbook page and I was absolutely thrilled with it. It's so easy to make (if you get the dimensions correct) and it is an awesome gift.
She make one for her cutie little girl Brooke, and in the following videos she's making one for her cutie son, Blake.

Part # 2

Updates: I finally decided to get an iMac, and I can't wait. Hopefully it will get here next week and I will post an update when it gets here.

Are you a MAC or a PC? And Why?

Update: Computer Woes

Another little update:
Yesterday was a great day and horrible night. I was working on scheduling some blog posts and right when I finished I shut down my computer. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just at the moment when the computer clicked off I realized I'd forgotten to look up something I needed online so I turned my computer back on, however, something was very wrong. My desktop background was gone, all of my personalized shortcuts were gone, and even my user account lo-gin was gone. My only option was to lo-gin as administrator. Weird right?? I still didn't panic though. So I lo-gin (after about 15 minutes of trying to figure out what my administrator password was) and I'm looking around my folders only to find that every document, music file, and picture is gone, GONE, I tell ya!!! <---always wanted to do that.

I'm so glad I can laugh about it this morning because I wasn't laughing about it last night. In the end I shut the computer down in hopes it would magically restore itself by the time this morning got here, but I guess I set my hopes too high because it's still totally bare this morning.

I guess a new computer is in order. Ugh/Hooray!! That's how I feel this morning. There is really nothing I can do about the fact that everything's gone. I'm going to try to contact my computer liaison at work to see if he has any suggestions but other than that I've got to get a new computer and soon.

That's all for now. I'm just going to think positive and view this as a through purging and start anew more organized and better than ever. Positive perspective, that's my motto.

Have a good day everyone.

My computer just wiped my hard drive and reset itself to the factory setting. OMGosh. Trying really hard not to be completely pissed about this. Any suggestions on how I can get all my info back. There is literally now documents, musics, files, or anything on my computer right now. Completely wiped!!!!!!! Help......please.

Tool Spotlight: Zutter Distrezz-It-All

Hey everyone,

It's been a busy busy weekend here in the Scrap Sugar Studio. As you can see I tried my hand at some CSS coding {please forgive me if that's not the correct terminology} and redesigned the website to make it a little simpler and I'm liking it a lot. Not loving it yet so there may be a few more changes in the next couple weeks or months.

Todays tool that I'm spotlighting is the Zutter Distrezz-it-All. If you remember this post from last week I talked all about Tim Holtz for Sizzix dies and my love of grungy things. I normally keep my cards pretty simple but I love making Mini Albums and I tend to grunge them up quite a bit. If you've attempted to grunge chipboard and the multiple papers that are included in a mini album then you know it can be a bit time consuming. Well Zutter and Donna Salazar have come up a solution.

Description from

Add antique, shabby chic look to your paper craft projects in the blink of an eye. The tool that everyone wants....the all new Distrezz-it-All makes hand sanding and filing a thing of the past. Distrezz cardboard, chipboard, wood, leather, fabric-covered projects, up to 12 sheets of cardstock at once! Hand held or desk top application.

Here is a great demo video from Noell Hyman of

Price: $39.99

A quick google search resulted in prices around $39.99. Hopefully Hobby Lobby or Michael's will offer this product and we will be able to use a 40-50% coupon. Don't you just love coupons??

I think this is a great tool for the crafter who makes multiples of everything. (Um....that's me). When you have your assembly line set up this tool will cut your distressing time in half or more. Furthermore did you see how easy it was to distress that chipboard?? Awesome.

Let me know what you think. Would you use it? Would you purchase it?

Card Positioning Systems 162 - Thank You

Hey everyone,

Today I'm being inspired by sketches. Love love love sketches. Todays is from Card Positioning Systems.

Details: With this card I grabbed some patterned paper from .....Ok really I don't know where it's from but it's super cute. I have to start keeping up with the collections. The solid cardstock is from Stampin Up!, buttons from Papertrey Ink, and the Thank you stamp is from Cosmo Cricket's Jacks World stamp set.

What is your favorite sketch site??

5 Things about Me.

1. This has been the best year of my life so far, and I've come a long long way. I was engaged for 2 1/2 years before calling off the wedding last year. It was the hardest experience I've ever gone through but I'm so much stronger having gone through it.

2. Scrapbooking has turned into an unexpected business for me. I started out making cards for just friends and family...Birthdays, anniversary, holidays, etc...and now after only 1 1/2 years I am actually getting custom orders. How crazy is that??

3. I'm an extreme home body and I don't like having people over. I can't say that I'm anti-social because I love being around people but my home is my haven and I love my private space and time to be just that....Private. Weird, I know.

4. I never knew I was a dog lover until I got my first pet as an adult at the age of 25. I'd grown up with pet as a small child but I was always afraid of dogs. One day my former fiance' (we're still friends) took me to meet his family and his aunt had a minature schnauzer. I totally fell in love and decided I needed to have one and so I searched online for a breeder in the area and went to pick up this little guy. His name is Teddy and he's 2 years old. This is how tiny he was then I first picked him up at the breeder. He slept in my lap the whole car ride back home (45 mins). When I went to pick him up the breeder showed me 3 dogs. One was smaller than Teddy and a total spaz. He kept running into No thanks. The other was not that cute and Teddy came right up to me and climbed into my lap and sat there cool, calm, and collected. I knew he was the one for me.

This is him playing with my brother on the floor of my scrap room.

5. My desire for this year is to be a published designer in one of the major scrapbooking magazines.

CPS 161: 4U

Hey Everyone,

I've been totally inspired the last few days by sketches. Who knew sketches could be so motivational? Apparently everyone except me. I've found so many sketch blogs since I began my search and I've made 10 cards in the last 2 day. How exciting, right? Especially I've been getting custom orders and requests for everything from thank you cards to birthday invites. It's so much fun but also a real pressure cooker right now since I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to give people a great product. So off I go to create and be merry.

Here is one of the cards I created over the weekend. I've seen and heard much about Card Positioning Systems, however, this is the first challenge that I've actually participated in and it was so much fun.

Thats all for now but more to come.

Tim Holtz: Alterations Line

Hey everyone,

I don't know if you'd consider yourself a grungy girl but I certainly am from time to time, and no one does grunge like Tim Holtz. I have my eye on a few of his things for my haulage (which is getting a bit out of hand actually......however my justification is the fact that it's all reusable tools....again, my JUSTIFICATION...he he).

Check out this video of Tim debuting his new Alterables line then leave me a comment on what you're thinking of buying.

What I'm looking at:

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Tattered Florals

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Hardware Findings

NEW! Bigz Die - Hardware Findings

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Elegant Flourishes

NEW! Bigz Die - Elegant Flourishes

And pretty much anything else that makes including all of his dies (have you seen his on the edge dies.....OMG), the distress inks, and alcohol inks. Man, who knew crafting could be so expensive. Is there a hoarders group for craft supplies?? Someone sign me up.

Techie tuesday

Hey y'all. My kids are taking the TAKS test this week so please forgive me if my blog is a little bare.
I did get a chance to stop by nest buy today. I'm trying to get my laptop computer screen replaced.
Nevertheless (don't you just live big words like that) I stopped by the Apple display to check out the iPad up close and in person and I have to say it's really cool. <--- what an accurate review right. Lol.
Anyhoo I snapped this pic my blog on the iPad and I wanted share.

Well true to form I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the pic from my photos into this blog post on my iPhone. Did I mention I'm not liking the tyepad mobile app, and this situation tells you why.

Bib Necklaces & Sizzix Dies

Hey Everyone,

It's April already and I'm so busy right now it's been crazy. Graduate school, Teaching, Crafting, Blogging, and so much more. I'm having the time of my life though.

My latest find has been bib necklaces. You may remember them from this post. I've seen them on so many blogs and I kept thinking to myself I think I can do that. Mind you I say that about most things that I happen to find, lol. But really I innately knew that I could do that, so on I went googling my little heart out and finally I found some great tutorials on how you can make the flowers for these particular types of necklaces.

My Photo The first time I say this necklace on Maggie Holmes blog I was shocked and amazed. First off how gorgeous is Maggie in this picture. Secondly, I knew I had to have that necklace. My first search led me to Etsy and I was shocked to find out how much money was being asked for these necklaces, and I just knew I could (a) make it for myself (b) make it for way less money than was being asked (c) be so thrilled about it. So yes, I placed my order and I'm ready to get a move on it.

Here are a couple of tutorials I found on Youtube from Christie Daugherty:
