My Shopping Addiction-Relapse, Big Relapse.

Ok Ok. Yes I said it. "Hi, my name is Angee Lee and I have a shopping addiction."

Its true. Very VERY true. I SOMETIMES have a shopping addiction. It comes in waves though. Last year I went on a shopping fast and didn't purchase anything but gasoline and food (Bills paid of course) for 3 months. It was super fantastic. I thought that afterward I'd go on a binge but fasting from shopping actually carried over for the next 8 months. I didn't by clothes, even though I found some awesome coupons and deals. I didn't buy shoes, although I have a SERIOUS love of them. I didn't even my crafty stuff. Can you imagine I didn't stalk Papertrey Ink like I normally do every month on the 15th. I was so proud of myself.

Well christmas time came around and my will power went out the window. Actually it was after Christmas. Since I don't have children or a spouse I usually only buy for my parents and my brother. But I think I went a bit overboard for my birthday, which is on the 15th. I bought all crafty stuff for my birthday and mostly from Papertrey Ink. But the after Christmas/New Year sales were my doom this year. I've never been a holiday shopper. I don't normally like all the crowds around the holidays. But this year I got out with my friend, Ilene. I bought perfume (Michael Kors - Very Hollywood, Donna Karan - Cashmere Mist, Viktor & Rolf - Flowerbomb), sweaters, pajamas, boots (that I had to return later), and some costume jewerly.

But I got 2 big purchases that I love. Want to know what I got??

That is the Accucut GrandeMark. Yes, I did. I first saw this a few years ago when I was apart of a kit club with Marion Smith. (More on this later). I've seen quite a few people with them, Bona and Arlene.

When I first heard of the machine I immediately went to the website. Ummm. $595. I think not. I may have a shopping addiction, but I'm also a frugal shopper. I don't buy anything unless it's on sale, I have a coupon, or it's a super great buy.  I knew I could find one online for cheaper. It took me a long time  and I found a few on ebay but they weren't priced right for me and they didn't come up very often, but I finally found one last week on etsy and I ordered it. How much you may ask? $250. Yes, that is not a typo. Your girl is good like that. I can find a deal on almost anything. (And that included shipping...Ha!) I had to jump on that and I did. It should be delivered on monday.

Oh and it didn't stop there.

That's right. I've been eyeing this baby for quite some time. I'd made up my mind a long time ago that I wanted one but I didn't know when I'd get one. Well my bestie Ilene got one for Christmas and I knew I had to have one too. We  talk books, share books, and love books. It was just fitting that I needed one too. Plus when I heard this week about the new Kindle share feature I was sold. I ordered it this week and it should be here next week. I'm so excited about this.

So now my shopping is over. I'm fasting again from shopping for the next couple months, maybe. he he!!

In other news, my dear friend Marion invited me to be apart of her new kit club. How cool is that right! So the name of the club is Alpha Scrappa Omega. So cute, right?! Love that name. I will have more info on that soon.

Scrap Sweet,

Angee Lee

Banners are the hottest thing right now and I'm just loving the fact that Papertrey is jumping in on this trend. I'm sure this stamp set will be one of my favorites. Hopefully there will be a matching die. *I swoon.

Angee Lee's Deal of the Day: Pink ATG

Hi all.

Here's another deal of the day brought to you by Flowers to Flourishes. They have the new PINK ATG (Advanced Tape Glider).

Now I did not order this today because I have 2 ATG's already. I have the Yellow 1/2" and the Red 1/4" so I can't say I need it just because it's pink, but I can say that I was REALLY tempted to buy it.

If you would like an ATG and love the fact that it's pink, Flowers to Flourishes has them today for $21.99 + $5.99 shipping.

Later.

Angee Lee's Deal Pick of the Day

Deal-a-Day sites are the one of my well kept scrapbooking secrets, well until today. I find alot of my supplies and tools on these sites. They offer one deal that is only available that day or while supplies last. The best part about this is that the deals are deeply discounted scrapbooking supplies. Most of them are very current and up to date so you are not getting outdated deals.

The best part for me is waking up and getting to the computer or if I'm very busy that day checking my iPhone to see if any of the deals that day are something I MUST have. It's so much fun. Plus I'm a bit of a supply lover so that is definitely an enabler. :-D

The very first deal-a-day site that I was turned onto was PeachyCheap.com. I've gotten punches, paper flowers, thickers, and patterned paper collections from them and I've never been disappointed with an order.

Another deal-a-day site that I love is Craftysteals.com. The first thing I ordered from them and still order from time to time was a Scrapbooking Trends & Cards Magazine bundle. I saw it  one day on the site but didn't order  it and regretted it immediately so I had to wait until the next time it came up on the site.  They regularly offer the current volume of Scrapbooking Trends & Cards Magazines in  a bundle for $15.99. That is a great deal seeing both those subscriptions are over  $50 per year each. I don't purchase this deal every month but a few times a year I treat myself to the loads of inspiration they have to offer. This is one of the best items I've found on these types of sites.

Sometimes I pass on things like patterned paper, chipboard elements, or rubons. However, I love the days when the deals are Martha Stewart punches, new release collections, or popular scrapbooking magazines.

Here are a few of my favorite deal-a-day sites. I've ordered from every one of these sites without a hitch so I have no qualms about recommending each of these for your shopping pleasure. =)

Angee Lee's Deal Pick of the Day:

From FlowerstoFlourshes.com

Tim Holtz new 2010 Distress Inks: 6 ink pads for $15.99 +$4.99 for shipping = $20.98 Total

Colors: Barn Door, Bundled Sage, Chipped Sapphire, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Pumice Stone

I've already submitted my order for this great deal. I'm working my way up to owning all of the distress inks by Tim Holtz. I just love how versatile they are and they open so many creative opportunities.

I don't know how often I will post my picks, but know that if it's a great deal I will have it up for you. As a scrap newbie I bought loads of stuff that I had no idea how to use or how to make it work for me. Now that I've gotten better and acquired more techniques to use I know whether or not the products you find on the site are actually things that I will use in my crafts. So that would be my only advice: make sure you purchase something you will actually use and don't just buy it because it's a good deal. It's only a good deal if you will use it.

Hugs,

Angee

Furniture shopping: Help me make WHITE work!!!

Hi all,

I back with a quick update and am in need of some advice. I'm planning to redo my bedroom soon and I'm buying white furniture. Well I'm not a particular fan of white furniture. Ok well that's not 100% true I love white furniture in other peoples homes but I can't seem for figure out how to make white furniture work, and look sophisticated and classy. So I got this dresser on hold at my favorite furniture place in town and I'm not quite sure how to make it classy/vintage which is my style. So i'm in need of some inspiration photos, links, etc.

How to I make this furniture work?? Took this pic on my iPhone so excuse the quality.

IMG_0431
I got the dresser. Not sure about the mirror though. I don't really want matchy matchy. I think I may look into getting a mirror like this.

(just hopefully not at this price :-/).  Or maybe a vintage gold mirror like this. And I'm also going to change the hardware out to crystal knobs to class it up a bit. I kinda feel like white furniture tends to look a bit country and that is definitely not my style. I love shabby chic with a vintage twist though so that would be a good mix for me. As you can see I'm not quite sure which way I'm going to take this. What about beach chic?? Lol.

I'm also thinking of adding mirrored bedside tables with this to class it up a bit.

I love these but the price hurts my feelings. They are antique and $2,476.15. OMG.

And these are super cute, but over $2k too.

Stunning Pair Art Deco Mirrored Bedside Tables Chests

Potterybarn has these for $399

What do you think?

Update: I found some inspiration pics on hgtv.com. Help me do something like this.

Mid-Century Modern Furniture

OMG I love love mid-century modern furniture. The simple lines, clean design, and the easy access. By easy access I mean craigslist.org. lol.

I was searching around craigslist today (for what I totally can't remember at the moment) but I came across some great vintage finds.

IMG_3886
How awesome is this. I just love the legs on this furniture ($250 for all) and how it's not flush with the floor. I have an aversion to furniture resting on the floor. Weird I know.

IMG_3827
And then you have this awesome cabinet ($650). I can imagine this in my dining room or even my scraproom. Man-O-Man the possibilities.

IMG_3817

Lastly is the dining set. This just reminds me of great dinners with family.

I had a great time searching craigslist.org today. Did I purchase anything? Nope. If only I hand an extra $2K to spend and the space to put all this, I'd definitely say, "Just throw it in the bag." ala Fabolous. lol.

Fly High...and update.

Hey everyone,

Today I have a card based on a sketch on Amy Rysavy's blog Prairie Paper & Ink. I made this card with Stampin Up cardstock and a clear stamp set by Practicing Creativity Designs called "Look Up".

Computer Update:

My new computer is on order and I can't wait. I decided to get a Apple iMac and I got a great deal on a refurbished one on the Apple website. As you know I'm an avid Youtube watcher and for the last couple of years I've been watching videos reviewing apple products and I totally fell in love with what I saw. I'd been saving up for a iMac since December last year and this little computer mishap pushed me forward to get exactly what I was and to find a great deal in the process. (I never buy anything full price....he he).

Now its just a waiting game. As soon as it gets here I will post a review.

Plus I should have 2 more hauls coming from Hero Arts and PapertreyInk coming soon. Scrap goodies galore. That makes me happy. :-D

That's all for now.

In sweet anticipation.

Tim Holtz: Alterations Line

Hey everyone,

I don't know if you'd consider yourself a grungy girl but I certainly am from time to time, and no one does grunge like Tim Holtz. I have my eye on a few of his things for my haulage (which is getting a bit out of hand actually......however my justification is the fact that it's all reusable tools....again, my JUSTIFICATION...he he).

Check out this video of Tim debuting his new Alterables line then leave me a comment on what you're thinking of buying.

What I'm looking at:

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Tattered Florals

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Hardware Findings

NEW! Bigz Die - Hardware Findings

Tim Holtz for Sizzix Elegant Flourishes

NEW! Bigz Die - Elegant Flourishes

And pretty much anything else that TimHoltz.typepad.com makes including all of his dies (have you seen his on the edge dies.....OMG), the distress inks, and alcohol inks. Man, who knew crafting could be so expensive. Is there a hoarders group for craft supplies?? Someone sign me up.

Later sweetness,

Angee

Happiness Always

Hey there,

I've been having the best time making cards with all my new supplies. If you haven't already gone out and purchased the Janome Sew Mini you need to do that now. Go online and order it. You will be pleasantly surprised by how much this can spur your creativity.

On that note I have a pretty little card to share with all of you. In addition to my buttons galore and my sewing sweetness, I also picked up a new embossing folder from Michael's yesterday (So I totally threw away the packaging before I looked at the name of the embossing folder....Sorry).
I just love the pop of purple in the center of the flower bundle. Can you tell that the white flower is actually Stampin Up's scallop circle punch. Yes it is, Yes it is.

Tool Spotlight: Xyron Creatopia

Good Morning Scrappers,

If you didn't already know I'm a total gadget geek. I love gadgets. I can't even keep a wishlist because it's forever changing based on reviews I find online, mac rumors I hear on blogs, scrapbooking debuts from various companies in the industry, and shopping excursions all over Texas and even online. In the midst of all my shopping shenanigans, I've come across a great video for a product I've had my eye on for quite some time.

I was first interest in this item when I started looking into letterpress

LetterPress1
Letterpress_2
Letterpress3
Can you see how beautiful this is? The texture, the clear crispness of the heavy weight paper, the clean impression of the letters, words, and ink. Oh this makes me happy.

Anyhoo, I love paperclipping.com and all of their crafty podcasts and I'm also subscribed to their youtube channel. Although I planned to attend CHA Winter 2010, I wasn't able to make it this go round, but thanks to Noel Hyman and her camera crew she gave all us scrapping youtubers an inside look at all the wonderful companies and products that debuted. One of those products and my top pick that has been added to my non-existent (he he) wishlist is the Xyron Creatopia. Take a look at all it can do:

I've seen prices for this machine range from $100 - $150 depending on how many attachments come with the machine. Do you love it or hate it? Would you buy it? Leave a comment and let me know and if you find it on sale please post a link.

That's all for now. Happy Scrapping.

Your Too Kind

Your too kind_edited-1 Happy Monday,

Hope your weekend didn't go by too fast. I had a super fun, busy weekend full of crafting, movie going, adventure, and socializing.

Here is one of my many projects from the weekend.

I got all my new supplies in from my orders from Stampin Up & Papertrey Ink and was so excited to use them that I didn't think to film my unboxing........so I jumped right in and put them to great use. I purchased the Janome Sew Mini from Overstock for less than $45 including shipping. I caught a great deal because the shipping was only $1 and I was able to get a warranty. As you can see from my card it's so easy to use and is totally fabulous. I

In addition to the Sew Mini, I also purchased all of Papertrey Inks buttons. Yes I said all of them (there are 21 bags of buttons on my crafting table and it's fantastically awesome.)

Last but certainly not least, I purchased all 4 sets of Stampin Up Classic Ink families. (Earth elements, Bold Brights, Soft Subtles, and Rich Regals). These inks are so versatile and has opened up so many doors for my crafting. There is a color to match almost any type of patterned paper I have in my stash. (And as a scrap newbie my first obsession is always patterned paper).

I'm so excited about everything I've purchased. It has really sparked my creativity (hence me posting at 11pm on a school night). But I'm off to bed now. Teddy's already asleep on his bed and I'm a little jealous at the moment.

Stay tuned for my sweet scraps.

Angela
